Hundreds of travellers stranded on Mombasa-Nairobi highway traffic jam since Monday night

Hundreds of travellers are stranded on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway traffic jam following an accident at Mutito Andei.
The police have not established the cause of the accident, which involved a trailer.
The trailer is still on the road since Monday night.
Bus companies on Tuesday issued travel alerts warning travellers that they will be late.
Mash East Africa told travellers that they were experiencing huge traffic jams in the Tsavo near Mtito Andei where passengers have been stuck since last night till now.
“We might therefore experience delays in our morning and afternoon departures. We deeply apologize for that,” Mash said.
The delay affected all bus companies operating in Mombasa and to Nairobi/Upcountry from Mombasa!
“As a result of the traffic jam at Mtito Andei and Machinery areas, we might experience delays of up to 6 hours or more on schedules between upcountry to Mombasa, Mombasa to Nairobi and from Nairobi to Mombasa,” Tahmeed coach limited said.
“We are rerouting schedules and are working to minimize delays for our customers.
Those coming from upcountry to Mombasa or from Mombasa to Nairobi and from Nairobi to Mombasa may be affected, please bear with us.”
The company said that they are striving to maintain on-time departures.
“We apologize for any inconvenience,” Tahmeed said.
