National police set up operation center to monitor SGR activities

The National Police Service has commissioned an Operation Centre for the surveillance of Nairobi-Mombasa railway line.
The centre, based in Nairobi, will be supported by vehicles donated by the Chinese Government.
The centre which is installed with CCTV cameras, will be key in monitoring activities along the corridor.
It will also disseminate information to Police Officers on the ground for quick response.

The Deputy Inspector General-Kenya Police Service Edward Mbugua said the center is a ‘major boost in the fight against vandalism.
He added that vandalims has continuously affected key infrastructure development projects.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kenya, Zhou Pingjian thanked the National Police Service for the continued cooperation and provision of security to the various construction sites.

The DIG-KPS thanked the Chinese Government for the donation of motor vehicles to the Service, adding that they will greatly enhance NPS mobility.
