FIFA suspends Kenya

The world governing body FIFA has suspended Kenya from international football activities.

FIFA boss Gianni Infantino announced Thursday that this follows government interference.

The Federation also banned Zimbabwe.

Without prejudice to any investigations by national authorities or other judicial bodies, the FIFA Council also decided to suspend the Football Kenya Federation and the Zimbabwe Football Association with immediate effect due to undue interference by a third party,” Infantino said during a press conference in Zurich.

He wants the government to reinstate FKF and dissolve the Caretaker Committee so that the suspension can be lifted. 

“We had to suspend two of our member associations Kenya and Zimbabwe both for government interference in the activities of the football associations of this associations are suspended from all football activities with immediate effect and they know what needs to be done for them to be re-admitted or the suspension to be lifted,” Infantino said.
