Deputy President William Ruto, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula have warned President Uhuru Kenyatta that he can’t succeed himself.
The three leaders of Kenya Kwanza said that Kenya is bigger than individuals and Uhuru should allow Kenyans to choose their next leader.
They asked Uhuru to respect presidency and he should leave positions like party leaders to other young politicians.
“Uhuru is the patron of Azimio. We have a right of association, and we will decide whom to work with,” Musalia said.
The three were accompanied by hundreds of Members of parliaments, aspirants and opinion leaders in a campaign to ensure Western remains solid.
They started the Busia county tour at Malaba Border and later made stopovers at the Achuneti Stadium in Malaba Town, Nambale, Butula and Mubwayo Grounds in Budalangi.
“Once we form Government in August, we will remove inhibitive bureaucratic procedures that hinder inter-border businesses between Kenya and Uganda at the Malaba border, for us to create maximum impact and ease operations that lead to congestion and slow services along the border,” Ruto said.
“Uganda being one of our largest trading partners, we will also ensure that we secure our borders from illicit trade activities by investing in surveillance infrastructure and equipment.”
The leaders said that traders and manufacturers will be safe from smuggling, trafficking and other illicit trade activities.
“We will promote the tobacco sub-sector to offer value addition. The safety of our fishermen at Lake Victoria will be guaranteed. Having fish coolers will be our immediate task to protect the fishermen from incurring unnecessary losses,” Wetangula said.
