The state has launched a fresh COVID -19 mass vaccination drive that targets to have 10 million vaccines administered over the next ten days.
Speaking at the Dagoretti Deputy County Commissioner’s offices in Nairobi, during the launch of the campaign, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe who was in the company of his interior counterpart Fred Matiang’i, said the latest initiative will be coordinated by national government administrative officers with the Government setting shared targets for each administrative unit.
In the plan, Nairobi County will be expected to have administered 960,000 vaccines by the close of the campaign, Kirinyaga 165,000 while 30,000 vaccines will be expected to have been administered in Lamu County by the end of the campaign.
By close of business Thursday, 12,885,157 vaccine doses had been administered with at least 5,894,445 persons having been fully vaccinated.
Kenya plans to fully vaccinate 19 million adults (70% of the adult population) by end of June 2022 and the entire adult population of 27 million people by the end of the year.
