A section of Amani National Congress leaders has rubbished reports that their party leader Musalia Mudavadi will sacrifice his presidential bid and support deputy president William Ruto in the forthcoming general elections.
Led by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, the leaders insisted that Musalia Mudavadi will be on the ballot paper as a candidate for the presidency in the August 9 poll.
While Speaking in Shinyalu, the Amani National Congress brigade led by Kakamega senator dismissed rumours that ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi will relinquish his quest for the presidency in favour of William Ruto’s presidential bid in the forthcoming general elections.
Senator Malala also accused former premier Raila Odinga and his team from the ODM camp of playing tribal politics. This even as Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa encouraged aspirants to visit any part of the country to entice voters ahead of elections saying nobody has a monopoly to do politics in any one region.
Elsewhere in Lukusi village Webuye East constituency during the burial of a famous Tachoni elder Wellington Lusamoywa, Wamalwa asserted that the Azimio la Umoja team led by former prime minister Raila Odinga will form the next government.
The back and forths have been termed by political analysts and experts as moves that may work positively for Deputy President William Ruto as they will divide the Luhya votes which have been estimated at 2.9M by the last day of voter registration if the western vote doesn’t count as a block
