Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga turned 77 years on Friday 8 January 2022.
The birthday was celebrated in Nairobi and a number of Nyanza counties.
President Uhuru Kenyatta attended the main celebrations in Karen Nairobi.
“Happy birthday Jakom. May you be blessed with many more. Raila Odinga,” deputy president William Ruto said.
However, critics said that it was wrong for county funds to be used to celebrate Raila’s birthday.
“It is a breach of Chapter 6 of the Constitution for public officers like county governors, senators, members of parliament and MCAs to use public resources to celebrate the birthday of anyone. What conman Raila Odinga and his puppets have done must be condemned,” Miguna Miguna said.
