The global fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has announced that they will serve ugali in Kenya.
This is after the local outlets ran out of imported potatoes in the country.
Ugali replaces French fries.
They said that Kenyans went ‘Kookoo’ with chips during the December festivities, hence exhausting their potato stock.
“Fam it was truly a Furaha December. Mlikula sherehe with your KFC faves. Ya’ll loved our chips a little too much, and we’ve run out,” KFC said.
“Sorry! Our team is working hard to resolve the issue. In the meantime, here are some SWAP options for combo meals if you are craving our Kuku.”
KFC operates locally through the franchisee Kuku Foods East Africa, and it imports its potatoes from global suppliers to meet international quality standards.
The company told its potential clients that there will be no soup to accompany the Ugali as many Kenyans would have loved. The Ugali will be eaten alongside fried chicken or salad.
