A lady in Machakos who stopped Deputy President William Ruto in July this year to sell him maize is happy after she took the DP to her Machakos hometown.
The elated Mama Elizabeth Mueni secured a future for her two babies, the unborn grandchild and fellow hawkers in Machakos town following her brief engagement with Ruto.
She also made the whole town happy by bringing the country’s second in command.
“The DP watched the video, which went viral and was happy to meet her again. He appreciated the act and asked me to organize a meeting with her,” Dr Kioko Munyaka, who organized the meeting said.
“Mueni was smart and asked for several things, which include a boost for her business to go the next level.”

Mueni met Ruto at the Deputy president residency in Karen where the DP gave her Sh 200 000 to boost her business.
“Her charm and focus made DP support other women who trade with her in Machakos. For her fellow traders, Ruto cancelled events in his diary and drove to Machakos where he met 600 traders,” Kioko said.

The DP asked the traders to open a Sacco and gave them Sh 2 Million in cash as capital to increase their wares.
Mueni also requested financial support to pay school fees for her child working as a house girl in Kisii County.
“On Mueni’s daughter, DP Ruto asked me to assist and when the daughter came she was expectant. I negotiated with an institution to admit her due to the challenges she was facing,” Kioko said.
“The institution agreed to host her and serve as her exam centre for the Class Eight KCPE exams. I paid Shs. 25,000 to the institution which was to cover for the whole year and fee for the final KCPE exam.”
The DP described Mueni as a hardworking citizen who deserves a better environment for doing business.
