Raila defends Handshake

ODM leader Raila Odinga has defended the handshake.
The former Prime Minister said that he agreed to shake hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta to save the country.
“We were ready to go the Somalia way but I agreed to the handshake to save the country,” Raila said.

The former opposition leader was speaking in Nairobi after attending a Sunday Service at the Legio Maria Church in Makongeni, Nairobi County.
“I had already been sworn in and we were ready to start collecting taxes. We also wanted to burn all Uhuru pictures in the country and declare independence,” Raila said.
Raila said that it is the reason he came up with Azimio la umoja to unite the country and take it back to the development track.
“I had a handshake with Uhuru because our country comes first,” Raila said.
“I wanted Kenyans to have peace.”
