Activist Boniface Mwangi has accused the State of sending rogue agents to blow up a house he was building for his family in Lukenya, Machakos County.
The Pawa254, in a series of tweets, and a video, said the agents bombed his house on Wednesday night.
The house was still under construction on Wednesday night.
Mwangi said the bomb sank the foundation of the house.
“The explosives sank the house of the and the state agents, who are thugs, robbed my workers,” Mwangi said.
The remnants of the explosives detonated are still in the compound.
“I urge various investigative agencies to move swiftly in their probe and bring the culprits to book. I’m not a criminal. I don’t do deals. I have never compromised my values,” he said.
“The State has blown up the house my family was building. The bullets, the explosives they used are on the scene. So what kind of a country are we living in?”
Mwangi said that the bombing of his house is a result of activism, and vowed that he will not be intimated.
“All I ask is an open and transparent investigation. If speaking [the] truth will get me killed, I’m ready to die,” he said.
“I’m hurting, but my spirit isn’t broken. Even this will pass. If the government doesn’t go after the culprits, they shall survive to hunt me and hurt others.”
Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has since blasted the State over the incident saying it is mandated to provide safety for all citizens.
“Boniface Mwangi is my comrade-friend-son. He called me last night. He was wailing. So was his family. So, now our families are not safe. They’ve never been. A State that cannot guarantee the safety of both our lives and property is illegitimate,” he said.
