ODM leader Raila Odinga has assured Kenyans that the 2022 elections will be free and fair.’
The former Prime Minister said his commitment and that of President Uhuru Kenyatta, will ensure that elections remain peaceful.
“I can assure you that the election for president will be free and fair as Uhuru and are committed to liberating this country to where our forefathers wanted it to be,” Raila said.
The ODM boss was addressing a section of youth leaders from Mt Kenya at the University of Nairobi.
“BABA’s house will have many rooms; I have reserved the biggest one for our YOUTH.
Hii si risto. INAWEZEKANA,” Raila said.
Raila assured the youth not to be worried about the possibility of a repeat of post-election violence, and they should be ready to form part of his government after the 2022 polls.
“There will be no post-election violence,” Raila said.
The ODM leader said that a solution must be sought to deal with the marginalisation of women.
“For instance, marriage forces women to relocate from their birthplaces. This poses a serious danger to the success of women participation in politics,” Raila said.
“We urgently need affirmative action and irrespective if the outcome of the courts we are determined to fix this, otherwise the 2022 results would not be any different.”
Raila said that there are serious historically traditions that work against women and their representation in Parliament.
“The field is not levelled at the moment to also ensure proper mainstreaming of People With Disabilities in this country,” said Raila.
