South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro has distanced himself from the Tanga Tanga motion to impeach Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.
The first-time MP said that the motion initiated by his Nyali counterpart Mohamed Ali cannot hold any water.
“I have gone through the impeachment grounds fronted by Hon. Moha this morning, and I must say I am disappointed. Why would one want to impeach the CS over his dispute with his governor over some wall?? If that is the only reason Moha has, then the motion falls flat even before admission in the house,” Osoro said.
The Nyali MP initiated a motion to impeach Matiang’i over alleged abuse of office.
However, Osoro stated that the motion will be dead upon its approval by Speaker Justin Justin Muturi.
“On all other operations by the CS, he works under instructions and any sane grown-up should commend his loyalty to his boss, H.E the president,” said Osoro.
“He is a civil servant for crying out loud. The president saw it fit to have him in that post and unless I see a serious violation of the constitution on his part, I will not support the imaginary impeachment by some of my colleagues.”
Osoro stated that there was no proof that Matiang’i had seriously violated the constitution as the notice of the motion indicated.
He added that the deputy president was also not aware of the motion.
“I have shared with WSR this morning over the same and found out that he is unaware of such a motion and has committed to calling upon MPs to focus on matters that touch on common mwananchi,” Osoro said.
