A Nairobi court has sentenced businessman Tom Mboya, who shot Ronalo Foods Restaurant owner William Osewe, to 23 years in jail.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku sentenced Tom Mboya to 20 years for attempting to kill Osewe and another three years for shooting Wilfred Tembula.
There is no option of fine.
On 4 October Mutuku found Mboya guilty of attempted murder and guilty of unlawfully wounding another man.
The prosecutor proved that Mboya shot Osewe multiple times in December 2016 at Garden Estate in Kasarani following an argument over Stella Mutheu, a woman believed to be the latter’s wife.
Osewe was admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital’s High Dependency Unit (HDU) where he underwent surgeries to remove the bullets.
Mboya surrendered to Kasarani Police Station in Nairobi.
He was later arraigned in court where he pleaded not guilty in 2017 and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.300,000.
