Former Sports CS Hassan Wario now face a Sh3.6m fine or a 6-year jail term after he was found guilty for abusing office during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
His co-accused Former Nock official Stephen Soi was found guilty of willfully failing to comply with applicable procedures in the constitution.
Soi faces a 10-year jail term if he fails to pay Sh103m over misuse of the Rio funds following a sentence by the the Milimani anti-corruption court .
the magistrate, Elizabeth Juma, said on Wednesday that Wario took advantage of his office to add three additional three people to the list of Team Kenya and had them paid allowances yet he had no mandate to do so. The three are Monica Sairo, Richard Abura and Edan Adow.
Wario and Soi appeared before Anti-Corruption Court at Milimani, Nairobi on Thursday, September 16.
Wario was however acquitted on the charge of engaging in a project without planning.
The judge said that the planning was for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Other accused persons were acquitted following a lack of sufficient evidence. They include former PS Richard Ekai, Haron Komen, former director of administration at the Ministry of Sports, Francis Kinyili and Patrick Kimathi Nkabu.
Wario and Soi will be remanded at Gigiri police station pending mitigation and sentencing on Thursday.
