National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has officially declared his interest to contest in the 2022 presidential polls.
Muturi declared his candidature at his Kanyuambora home in Embu.

“I J.B. Muturi hereby declare my position for the President of the Republic of Kenya come 2022,” National Assembly Speaker, J.B Muturi, said.

The declaration comes after Muturi hosted the clergy of the East African Pentecostal Churches at his village home last Friday.

“Let the torchbearer be from East, we have walked together before so we can also walk together to realise dreams of development in the area,” Muturi said.

Muturi said that the leaders from Mt Kenya East are planning to come up with a political party to negotiate for the region in the 2022 polls. He also added that the party will produce a candidate to vie for president in next year’s elections.

“We should think of coming up with a strong party that will bring people from all over the country,” Muturi said.
Muturi encouraged people to be proud of their own and not to be persuaded by other parties to popularize those who don’t belong to their region.

Muturi is working closely with Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Narc-Kenya’s Martha Karua and former United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) boss Mukhisa Kituyi to build a third alliance.

The new alliance will compete ODM’s Raila Odinga, One Kenya Alliance (OKA) and Deputy President (DP) William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

“The only blessing we need is from God and Kenyans alone. We don’t need anybody’s blessing,” said Muturi.

“I am asking that you may support us so that we walk together to ensure we get accountable leaders who have your issues at heart.”
