Deputy President William Ruto has said that he is making Sh 1.5 million daily from selling eggs.
The DP said that he has 200 000 chickens at his farm in his Uasin Gishu Sugoi farm, producing up to 150 000 eggs daily.
“They (Office of the president) forgot to say that I have 200 000 chickens, which gives me 150 000 eggs every day. I sell the eggs at Sh 1 500 000 daily,” Ruto said today Thursday morning, at his Karen residence. He was addressing leaders from Nakuru County.
The DP was responding to a report tabled in parliament by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi claiming that Ruto owned properties including 18,500 acres of real estate properties, two high-end hotels, five helicopters in two hangars at Nairobi’s Wilson Airport and a chicken farm.
“The Office of the President was 70 per cent right, but they added me some property like the ADC land that isn’t mine,” the DP said.
Ruto also denied owning the 15,000-acre ADC Mutara Ranch in Laikipia County.
“In their illegal audit, the media gave me Six-Eighty Hotel and Boulevard hotel, which was not part of Matang’i’s list,” he added.
Ruto said that Matiang’i did better than the media, which had also carried out a wrong lifestyle audit on him.
“Matiangi tried and I gave him 70 per cent but they both gave me properties I don’t own,” Ruto said.
The DP revealed that he holds 400,000 Safaricom shares and 80,000 Kenya Airways shares.
“They should also have said if we have the police also guarding there in the illegal lifestyle audits,” Ruto said.
